TenClub’s Monster Room turns into Amsterdam’s one and only actual jazz club every Sunday afternoon. Our headquarters at Nes 116 bring the atmosphere Amsterdam’s jazz scene has been waiting for without knowing it. Small to medium in size, the room provides the intimate backdrop for the hot and steamy performances by your host and master pianist Bas van Lier, who invites national and international guest artists to perform alongside himself during these very special matinee sessions. With just one season behind us, we are grateful to see so many of Amsterdam’s jazz aficionados time and time again on Sunday afternoons.
Today’s special guest: Basily Gypsy Band
Mark your calendar for this performance if you’re into Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz. Music minded Sinto family Basily has produced many virtuoso guitarists and it is, of course, the guitar that will be central to this performance. With no less than three guitars in the band, the Basily Gypsy Band plays a wide variety of gypsy music.
The Basily Gypsy Band has shared the stage with Stéphane Grappelli and count the Rolling Stones and Jeff Beck among their fans. They’ve even played at private parties organised by these world famous admirers. These guys are, in other words, true artist’s artists and their music is to be enjoyed by those who are in the know…
