House of Fascination: Louis Couperus

Ter ere van het honderdste sterfjaar van Louis Couperus (1863-1923) presenteert TenClub met trots een thema-avond over de schrijver, die met recht een van de belangrijkste romanciers uit de Nederlandse literatuurgeschiedenis genoemd kan worden. Reken op een prachtig programma met een voordracht uit de door Uitgeverij HetMoet opnieuw in bibliofiele vorm uitgegeven roman ‘Extaze’ door Simon Mulder, een beschouwende lezing door columnist en  Couperuskenner Bas Heijne, het talentvolle Nederlands-Indonesische Duo Saraswati (Jan van der Plas (cello) en Kris van der Plas (piano) met muziek die voorkomt in Couperus’ werken en – het is tenslotte TenClub – theatrale vertolkingen van scènes uit zijn boeken verspreid over alle kamers van Nes 116. Uiteraard zal een speciale Couperuscocktail niet ontbreken.

• Voordracht uit ‘Extaze’ door Simon Mulder

• ‘Eline Vere’ en ‘Lohengrin-ouverture’ door Simon Mulder en Duo Saraswati

• Couperus-rondleiding door het huis met diverse scènes rondom Couperus’ werken

In honour of the 100th anniversary of the death of Louis Couperus (1863-1923), TenClub proudly presents an evening celebrating the life and work of the writer, who can rightly be counted among the most important novelists in Dutch literary history. Expect a wonderful program with a reading by Simon Mulder from the novel ‘Extaze’, as well as a contemplative lecture by columnist, essayist and Couperus connoisseur Bas Heijne, the talented Dutch-Indonesian Duo Saraswati (Jan van der Plas (cello) and Kris van der Plas (piano)) with music that appears in Couperus’ works and – it is TenClub, after all – theatrical renditions of scenes from his books scattered throughout all the rooms of Nes 116. Couperus cocktails, carefully blended and served by our dedicated bar staff, will be available for one night only.
