Line-up: The Square Cats
The Square Cats is an acoustic band made up of four musicians with a shared passion for Gypsy Jazz and joyful, danceable vintage music.
The band consists of two guitarists (rhythm and melody), one saxophonist, and one singer.
The Square Cats started by jamming outdoors on the Kattenburgerplein in Amsterdam, and from there grew into a full-fledged jazz band.
That’s where their name comes from:
“Square” (plein) and “Cats” (from Kattenburgerplein).
During live performances, The Square Cats have a lot of interaction with the audience and with each other — with this kind of music, it’s almost impossible not to!
Their genres range from 1930s jazz to Latin, and they mainly play danceable and sing-along jazz standards, as well as their own originals, such as romantic ballads or instrumental jazz pieces.
