The Grand Piano Series: Ratko Delorko

Event details

Curated by pianist, composer, conductor, improviser, chamber musician, répétiteur and professor of piano Henry Kelder, TenClub’s Grand Piano Series reintroduces piano music by the world’s most inspiring classical composers as well as by those who deserve more attention. These intimate concerts take place in our majestic Monster Room, which is reminiscent of the salons of 17th, 18th and 19th Europe. Very much in the historical tradition of the salon, the audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the music they have just listened to.

Time travelling through stories

The renditions we present to our Curious audience contain programs have been carefully put together by a diverse range of pianists, who are all passionate about and specialised in historical pianos. Not only are the performing artists fantastic musicians, they are also great storytellers. More than piano concerts, TenClub Grand Piano evenings are transcendental experiences, offering its visitors in-depth information about the music played, the instruments used and much more.

Additional art forms: poetry, photography, film and more

The great salons of Europe used to be places where multiple art forms would be practiced simultaneously and TenClub’s Mayer Manor is no different in that respect. Besides music, there is always additional art to be seen, heard or experienced during these evenings, whether that is poetry, film or various forms of fine art.

Performing on Thursday January 16th is Ratko Delorko. Born into a musical family in Croatia – his father was a famous opera singer – Delorko isn’t your everyday pianist. When not composing or performing, this creative mastermind enjoys road tripping on his motorbike and practicing photography. Look forward to a two hour long experience that involves not only a concert but also enticing stories about the works and lives of composers such as Couperin, Beethoven, Schubert and – of course – Delorko himself.
